After we serendipitously met over breakfast in Antigua, Guatemala, our lives positively changed forever. We were both in Guatemala to learn Spanish and ended up in the same school and homestay. While hiking a volcano on the second day of our trip and sharing the details of our lives, we realized that we were a good fit. With nervous excitement, we explored Guatemala together and our bond deepened. After returning to the States, we fell in love like a slowly burning candle as we traveled back and forth between Washington DC and Chicago frequently over the following year and a half. We often look at each other and ask “How did this happen?” Sounds crazy? We agree!

In the summer of 2017, we gathered together with many of Basant’s family members for his sister’s wedding, many of them traveled from Nepal. Kelly met 28 of his relatives in a span of two hours. And survived! Basant’s mother nonchalantly asked when we planned to get married. A few months later, after an important presentation at Kelly’s work, Basant surprised her by getting down on one knee.

We are so excited to celebrate with all of you at the enchanting, romantic, and rustic Point 16 in Big Sur, California. We recommend staying in Monterey; shuttle service will be provided to and from the ceremony. Please check this website for updates as the wedding date approaches. Shuttle Pick-Up Location: 440 Harcourt Ave, Seaside, CA 93955 Please arrive at the parking lot no later than 1pm. The shuttles will be leaving promptly at 1:15pm so as to get to the venue by 3pm. The shuttles are very comfortable with an onboard bathroom and there will be cold drinks on the shuttle for guests. Please give yourself plenty of time to get to the parking lot. Parking is free in the lot and on the street. The only time limit is that you cannot park your car in the lot overnight but you can on the street. Shuttles will only be leaving from this one stop. On the return from the wedding, both shuttles will be stopping at the parking lot AND at the location of the after party in Monterey (details on that will come later). Guests are encouraged to carpool or Uber to the lot, especially if you plan to go to the after party. Parking lot is located at the Seaside City Hall and Seaside Branch Library at 440 Harcourt Ave, Seaside, CA 93955. This is just a couple of miles north of Monterey. If you go by way of Del Monte Blvd or Highway 1, turn onto Canyon Del Rey Blvd, and take the left onto Harcourt just after the Chilis restaurant on the right. The lot is right there. If for some reason you are running late and concerned about missing the 1:15 departure, please call either Audrey (831) 521-1390 or Elizabeth (831) 320-9647, they are the emergency contacts. They will be eventually be out of cell and internet range as they make their way to Point 16, so call as soon as you can if you run into any problems getting to the pick up parking lot.
