It all began in college with a simple ride to church. Tacha hopped into a car with a mutual friend, and in the driver’s seat was Kelly. Their first real conversation happened at a Natives Apparel showcase, where they were paired to man a table together. The interaction was brief, casual, and comfortable. Later, a friend asked Kelly if he was interested in Tacha. His answer? A confident “no.” But deep down, his heart had already begun to lean in. Over the next year, their friendship grew in the most natural way. Shared rides to church, spontaneous Walmart runs, long talks, and a love for The Office and games brought them closer. As they spent time together, they realized how similar their childhoods, values, and dreams were. There was a quiet understanding and comfort that began to bloom between them. Then, 2020 arrived and the world changed. The pandemic shut down campuses, and Tacha moved back home to Palm Beach while Kelly stayed in Miami. Despite the physical distance, they remained deeply connected through video calls, long conversations, and intentional virtual hangouts. It became clear that their bond was more than just friendship, it was something truly special. After much prayer and counsel, they decided to take the next step. On July 18, 2020, Kelly created a heartfelt scavenger hunt with their closest friends to ask Tacha to be his girlfriend. She said yes, and they were overjoyed! Not long after, Kelly told Tacha he was going to marry her. Tacha laughed, part disbelief, part “we’re only 20!” But deep inside, there was a small, flickering thought that maybe just maybe could he be right? The honeymoon phase eventually faded, and with it came the challenges of young love: miscommunication, immaturity, and hard lessons. The connection that once felt effortless became strained. In November 2021, they broke up. They tried to remain friends, but space was necessary for both of them to heal and to grow. Three years passed and life took them on separate journeys, never imagining their paths would cross again. But in 2024, God had other plans. Their reunion wasn’t a fairytale moment. It was a series of honest, vulnerable conversations about the past, the distance, and what their future could look like. At first, it was just a friendship, slow and cautious. Many of their closest people were skeptical, but over time, hurt was replaced with healing, and misunderstandings turned into forgiveness. Slowly but surely, they rebuilt a friendship rooted in care, prayer, and time. They knew, though, that if they were to try again, it had to be different. It had to be forever. So they prayed. They fasted. They sought counsel. And in the quiet moments, God made His plans clear. Tacha and Kelly knew in their hearts that this was His timing and that this time, it would be forever. And in June of that same year, Kelly asked Tacha to be his forever. This time, she said yes with a heart full of love, trust, and the confidence that this was meant to be.
