9 Years Together, Here's to Many More

"Love at First Take"

The meet-cute

In 2017, both Kellie and Patrick were students at Columbia College Chicago - walking the same halls, chasing similar dreams, and somehow never crossing paths. Kellie graduated that early summer, stepping into the next chapter of her life, while Patrick was going into his senior year, deep into film school. Just one week after graduation, Kellie was cast as the lead in a short film called Heir through her agency. At the same time, Patrick was brought on as the co-cinematographer alongside groomsman Ryan Winnicki. Neither of them knew it yet, but this project would become much more than just another credit. The day before production began, something unexpected happened. Kellie received a candle in the mail - unprompted, unrecognized, and addressed to her - with instructions on how to manifest her soulmate. Confused but curious, that night, she lit the candle, set her intentions for the kind of person she hoped to welcome into her life, and went to sleep. The very next day on set, while Kellie sat in hair and makeup, the director approached and asked her to meet with the DP to discuss the first scene. As Patrick walked up the stairs to meet her, their eyes locked - and in that instant, something undeniable sparked. A quiet, cosmic recognition neither of them could quite explain. Throughout the week-long shoot, their connection only grew. Between takes, they discovered shared values and passions: a love for storytelling, deep family ties, and even overlapping lifestyles - Patrick was vegan, while Kellie was vegetarian at the time. The conversations felt easy, natural, and magnetic. Each night after filming, Kellie would unwind at a bar with her bridesmaid Lisa Brambert, trying to make sense of it all - how could she feel so strongly about someone she had just met? Meanwhile, Patrick couldn’t take his eyes off her on set and, as he later admitted, had already called “dibs” among his crew. When production wrapped, they went their separate ways - without exchanging phone numbers. But some stories aren’t meant to end that easily. That very night, Kellie got home to find a message waiting for her. Patrick had found her on Facebook and invited her to the wrap party at his place. Without hesitation, she said yes. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Fast forward nine years: Kellie and Patrick have built a life filled with love, creativity, and adventure. They’ve moved across the country, share their home with their two black cats, Luna and Bonita, and continue to grow both together and individually. Kellie transitioned into creative operations and producing, now working full-time at AWS after years of acting and modeling in Chicago and Los Angeles. Patrick has built an impressive career in the film and television industry as a lighting technician and has even shot a full-length documentary, No Limits. What started as a chance meeting on set, sparked by a mysterious candle and sealed in a single glance - became a love story years in the making. Some might call it fate. Others might call it perfect timing. They call it their story.
