While Kelli was visiting her mom in Colorado during the summer of 2024 she ventured into a gem and fossil store with Nora. As they looked around the store she came across a display of beautiful mens rings. She picked them up one by one, trying them on her largest finger, knowing that Walter's fingers must be about twice the size of hers. She found a fetching design made of tungsten and gold and decided then and there, that this man who came into her life nearly four years ago, was the one she wanted to share her life with. She bought this ring on the spot not knowing if it would fit him, but taking the chance anyway. She didn’t know when she would give it to him, but knew eventually the time would be right and she would find the courage. Almost six months later, while on a Christmas trip to Jays Peak in Vermont, Kelli decided she would take the plunge.  Walter's parents and daughter were there and she wanted them to be the first to know as well as be part of the proposal.  She hid the ring in her ski jacket along with the lyrics to the song, "I Choose You", to use as her proposal, for it explained exactly how she felt. It was nine below zero with a wicked wind howling, as they ascended up the mountain. Kelli held her breath, heart pounding, feeling like the chairlift would never get to the top.  Annalise rode in the chair behind them ready and waiting to take a video of the proposal. As they got off the lift Kelli took Walter by the hand and said, " Walter can you come over here for a minute?" He looked confused, but followed her anyway knowing something was afoot. Braving the piercing winds she took off her ski gloves, lowered her face mask, raised her goggles, and managed a zipper or two in the freezing cold. She took out the lyrics and the ring, standing as close to him as possible, pinning the blowing papers to Walter's chest and spoke those fateful words.  She asked her partner to marry her. He stood silent, listening to each word, helping to brace Kelli in the wind and then simply said, "YES!" The ring turned out to be a perfect fit!
