Lee and Kelli met on a dating app called Zoosk, so they didn't actually meet until their first date. After messaging on there for a while they exchanged numbers and texted for a bit before Kelli admitted she didn't really live where her profile suggested. Disappointed by the distance, Lee still agreed to take her on a date. So a 2 1/2 hour drive led Kelli to his house for a morning of fishing. After a slow morning on the lake they returned to the house to clean the 1 or 2 fish that were caught. After that Lee decided to cook for Kelli, Fish fry with crunchy tots, perfect for the girl who had just gotten her wisdom teeth removed only 2 days before. It was Delicious! They followed that up with a game of cribbage before relaxing on the couch and watching Despicable Me. Lee fell asleep! But Kelli didn't mind, she had Alice the dog to cuddle with and decided she felt right at home with all the deer and goat mounts and bears hanging on the wall. After the movie they said goodbye and agreed they wanted to see eachother again.
Who knew second dates would require so much packing? Duffle bag, boots, shotgun, and hunting gear. You know, just the essentials. This date included shooting clay pigeons and going to a wildlife banquet that afternoon, along with goose hunting the next morning.. At the banquet one of Lee's friends asked Kelli when she would be moving there. Surprised by this question, she replied, "It's our second date, I should probably ya know make sure it's gonna work out first." To which he responded, "Well if you can hit more pigeons than Lee, I don't think you have anything to worry about". Did he know something she didn't? Guess another date would make things more clear. For their third date, Kelli drove down again. This time Lee brought her to his Grandma's house for coffee, and then to meet his parents. When he introduced her to his mom she said, "So you're like his girlfriend?" Thank goodness he saved the situation from becoming an awkward silence and responded with a "YES." That was a relief, since she had wondered how to approach that topic. After visiting with his parents they were off to celebrate a wedding of Lee's friends where they were also getting used to being an official couple. Skip ahead to deer season, again Kelli drove down to see Lee. This time in a Blizzard and it took 4 1/2 hours. She must REALLY like this guy! They spent the evening before opener hanging with friends and having some drinks. In the morning Kelli woke Lee up exclaiming "Wake up! It's deer season! You love deer season!" He said, "Yes but do you know what I love more?" "What?" "You!" "Aww, I love you too!". Now they have two beautiful children and are looking forward to many more adventures and memories. Now we just need to change her last name.
It was Kelli's birthday. Nothing exciting was planned, really. Lee worked and Kelli stayed home with their almost 7 month old daughter. Lee grilled steak and lobster for dinner which was amazing! After dinner and getting the kiddo put down for bed they were sitting on the couch picking out a movie. Lee said, "Just think, this is where it all started." "Yeah and you still make me have the crack seat!" (The gap in the couch where the sections come together.) Just then he got up and went to the kitchen. "Are you making popcorn?" She asked. He came back with an Ace hardware bag. "What are you doing? You gonna fix the crack seat?". "No.. its your birthday present." he said. "Ooh is it wind chimes?!" He just giggled shaking his head and got down on one knee and pulled out a little black box. "Will you marry me?" he asked. And she said "Yes I suppose, but I still want wind chimes. Xoxoxo"
