As we'll be getting married on Palm Sunday, you may want to attend a local church. Hosea was where Kelli and I attended church together while she lived in Chapel Hill. It was the place we called home and the place we are sad to be leaving in exchange for a church in our local community where we can serve, find community, and grow deeper in our relationship with The Lord. Hosea is well-grounded in the heart of Raleigh, located next to Morgan Street Food Hall, and the home of genuine expository preaching aimed at growing the body of Christ through Christ-centered truth.
This is where Kelli and I went on our first date on my birthday in 2022. I didn't tell her it was my birthday, though she eventually found out when a text came across my screen from a friend wishing me a happy birthday and she insisted we go straight to the grocery store for cookies. They were the worst cookies I've ever had (I threw them out immediately when I got home that night), but so far it was the best birthday yet!
A bit of a hop and a skip from Raleigh, this course was only 15 minutes from Kelli's Chapel Hill apartment. One of Ethan's family hobbies, Kelli HAD to learn to play golf in its purest form - Disc Golf. A well-renowned and fun course to play where once upon a time, in her first attempt to throw forehand, Kelli miraculously flung the disc around her body and into Ethan's face. No serious damage sustained, though play was halted for a short break and many laughs. Rumor has it, Ethan still stands behind a tree when Kelli is throwing.
The Carolina Hurricanes are our hockey equivalent of the Denver Broncos - fun to attend until they blow their lead in the final period. The Canes are routinely good in the pre-season and an unfortunate let-down in-season, but unlike the Coyotes they're still around... The Canes have home games on March 28th and April 2nd.
We are not fans of museums but maybe you are. Have fun, I guess...? They do have some pretty walking trails and paths around the property that Ethan recommends.
Often called Raleigh’s “Midtown,” North Hills is a lively area with great shopping, dining, and entertainment all in one walkable spot. You’ll find everything from upscale boutiques to casual cafés, plus plenty of restaurants and bars perfect for a relaxed lunch or a fun night out.
Whether you go to William B. Umstead State Park, Pullen Park, Dorothea Dix Park, or Harris Lake County Park, Raleigh has many trails, lake views, and picnic areas. Grab a coffee and some friends the day after and enjoy the out of doors!
