Here is a list of questions and answers that you may find helpful as you plan your visit to Highlands. We'll add to this list as we get closer to the big day! Please feel free to reach out to either of us if you need some advice or have any questions - we are happy to help.
Question

Is there a main wedding hotel where most guests are staying?

Answer

Highlands has a number of hotels and small inns/lodges plus home rentals such as AirBnB and VRBO. There is no central hotel, however 200 main seems to be popular among people who have already booked. We've included several options on the travel page!

Question

Will I need a car?

Answer

Even if you fly in to Atlanta or Asheville, you will most likely need a car to get to Highlands. Once there if you stay on Main Street, you can walk to restaurants, shops and several hikes. The church is right on Main Street and shuttle service will be provided to the reception venue.(Highlands Country Club). There will also be valet parking at HCC. If you want to explore further, a car is needed. All accommodations have parking on site. There are currently no ride share companies (Uber, Lyft, etc.) that serve Highlands.

Question

What are some favorite hikes/waterfalls in the area?

Answer

If you have time, you should explore some of the natural beauty of the plateau. Our favorite close waterfall hikes are Secret Falls (easy-moderate) and Dry Falls (easy, with handrails). Close to town hikes are Sunset Rock (walkable from town), Satula Mountain (walkable from town) and Whiteside Mountain (short drive from town). The Highlands Hiker is a great resource for hikes and equipment.
