This is the little downtown area near the hotel. There are multiple bars, restaurants, coffee shops, wine bars, ice cream, you name it! And it's all walkable! We'll list some of our favorite places below, but you really can't go wrong with any option in this area.
Unique small sandwiches with a great beer and cocktail menu. They play old school Godzilla/Monster films from that era as well as cult classics on the wall!
A fun little lounge bar tucked in the alley behind Victory Sandwich. A lot of fun tropical themed drinks in fun glasses.
Some incredible food on an ever changing menu. New American. Great cocktails. A bit on the pricier side but not bank breaking.
A fun place to relax and recover with a coffee and pastry. It doubles as a great wine bar in the evenings.
If you're in the mood for Italian, this is the spot! The food is soooo good, we actually almost had our ceremony and reception here. This one is a bit pricy though, but pro tip-they have a great happy hour selection of small plates and drinks and they are very affordable!
This town is only about a mile and a half from our home, and is equidistant from the hotel. It's right up the street from where our wedding will be held. It has an old germanic feel to one area of it, and new developing/industrial style for the rest. It hosts a lot of our favorite bars and coffee shops, breweries (our welcome event will be at one of them) and restaurants. We'll list a couple options below!
One of Kellen's favorite places! This restaurant/bar also operates as an arcade, pinball and comic book shop! Good bar style food and affordable prices with a unique ambiance.
Incredible Venezuelan food! Great prices and good for a quick bite.
One of the many great breweries tucked away in Avondale Estates. You could barhop to a bunch in this area!
Such a cool spot! Great vibe, great food and drinks. Awesome indoor seating as well as patio.
Downtown Oakhurst is the ultimate small town square. You literally can't go wrong with any of these spots. From an awesome British Pub with an asian infused menu (Steinbecks) to Universal Joint, to Pizza, Mexican, an upper scale food options-it's our favorite spot and where we'd love to live (if we were millionaires).
Atlanta's "Central Park". It's a gorgeous park with great walking trails, great views, food spots, a dog park, a central pond, fields for different sports and the Botanical Gardens! It's connected to the Atlanta Beltline and is a great destination when you walk it.
An incredible experience with amazing designs. Located within Piedmont parks borders. It does require a ticket for entry, and the tickets can be a little pricey ($30) but worth it if you have the time and interest.
One of our favorite places to go. Kellen will regularly rollerblade the Beltline with Jorah running alongside him. It's a paved trail through Atlanta's Eastside and is lined with multiple restaurants, bars, coffee shops, parks, etc. You can walk it, or rent a scooter, bike, electric bike or rollerblade like Kellen. The places along this trail are too numerous, so we'll leave it to you to investigate further. And weather permitting, we'll be having a post wedding event along the trail the day following the wedding.
A really unique place with a little bit of everything! It used to be a Sears factory and was remade into a food hall, shopping center, and art space. With multiple floors/indoor and outdoor options, it's a great place to check out. It also has a rooftop (with purchase of a ticket) that has carnival games, put put, a restaurant with great views of the city and sunset and a couple bars. It's connected to the Beltline, so definitely something to check out if you find yourself there.
The Hotel Clermont is so much more than just a hotel. Inside is a classy bar, fantastic restaurant, a rooftop bar and a :lounge" with some *ahem* ladies of the pole that might be past their prime, but make up for that in experience. We've actually never been to the Lounge, but we have heard stories haha. This is next to Ponce City Market and just off the Beltline.
Right off the Beltline is a really cool bar with an outdoor porch and big screen for sports events. indoors boasts many tabletop games and upstairs is a really cool leather chaired lounge area. Good food, Great cocktails and a great stop along the Beltline.
Located in downtown Atlanta, Underground is a stretch of bars connected...you guessed it, UNDERGROUND. Definitely more of a college age spot, it has a lot of energy, dancing and cool finds for late night adventures. Some of the bars will even have themed shows-like ghost stories and cocktails, or burlesque performances.
This is the spot to go if you want to dance. Located in Atlanta Underground, it's a vibe. Be ready to wait in line though, it's the spot to be on the weekends, but you'll definitely have fun.
It's putt putt golf...except it's fun. A bar with 4 different putt putt courses that are anything but par for the course. (I feel like I should write for an Atlanta travel blog at this point). Things light up, move, are themed, and all while sipping on your favorite cocktail. You will need a reservation though, so check out their website if you want to schedule a game.
A really fun unique experience. Team up with friends and go through 4 different interactive games where time is added or deducted for your final challenge-finding and disabling "the bomb" before you get blasted with paint canons. Good food and drinks for before and after you play. Work together as a team or blow up as one.
I'm sure you didn't come all the way to Atlanta just to go see a movie. But if you're so inclined, The Plaza is a really special local theater that plays new films along with independent productions. It hosts the Atlanta Film Festival every year. If you love the feeling of an old theater, this is definitely a spot worth checking out.
