Things To Do

There is so much to do in Washington, D.C.! Of course the big items include the National Archives, Lincoln Memorial, the White House, the Capitol Building, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, and many Smithsonian Museums. Within walking distance of our wedding venue is the National Portrait Gallery, Ford's Theatre, Capital One Arena, and Chinatown. Mid- to late-March in Washington, D.C. is cherry blossom season. The best places to see the cherry blossoms are along the National Mall, close to the Washington Monument, or along the Tidal Basin by the Jefferson Memorial. Trying to squeeze in a few of the sights? Our favorite Smithsonian's are the Natural History Museum, the Air and Space Museum, and the Renwick Gallery. The US Botanic Gardens and Library of Congress are also must see locations if you find yourself near the Capitol Building. While there are endless places to eat and drink in The District, a few of our favorite spots are below.

Filomena Ristorante

1063 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20007

If we had to recommend one spot to eat, this is it. A D.C. staple, located in the Georgetown neighborhood, this is an old school Italian spot with great vibes and great food. We recommend reserving a table one to two months prior. Warning: the portions are massive (!!) so expect leftovers. Tables are also seated close together.

Unconventional Diner

1207 9th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

As the name implies, each dish has a unique spin but is executed deliciously. A modern restaurant with great food and great cocktails. Highly recommend!

Le Diplomate

1601 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

A D.C. staple, this upscale French restaurant is a must. This is a highly sought after reservation, so book one to two months prior.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe | City Center

1090 I Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Tatte is a cute bakery with coffee, fresh baked pastries, and heartier breakfast and lunch options. There are many locations throughout the city, but the location listed here is the closest to the hotel blocks and wedding venue. (Fun fact: Kellen has worked out of this location multiple times - find her table in the front corner, perfect for people watching!)

Call Your Mother Deli – Georgetown

3428 O St NW, Washington, DC 20007

Without a doubt the best bagels in D.C., with this location set in a quaint Georgetown neighborhood near the University. Multiple other locations throughout the city.

Agora Dc Mediterranean Restaurant

1527 17th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

BOTTOMLESS. BRUNCH. Bottomless mediterranean food and brunch drinks on their prix fixe menu. Highly recommend, but get a reservation in advance!

Chez Billy Sud

1039 31st Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20007

A charming French Bistro in Georgetown. If the weather is nice, their courtyard is ideal for enjoying a glass of wine. They also have a wine bar next door, should the restaurant reservations fill up.

ala

1320 19th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS! accompanied by an app, an entree, and a dessert. Great brunch option, but look for reservations in advance!

Ghostburger

1250 9th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Best burger in D.C., as confirmed by the most indisputable food critics as part of the prestigious Thunderdome D.C. burger tour. IYKYK

Oyamel Cocina Mexicana

401 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20004

A Chef Jose Andres upscale Mexican restaurant a few blocks from our wedding venue. Fun atmosphere and great Mexican food - can't go wrong with the table side guacamole!

Death & Co. D.C.

124 Blagden Alley Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

The world famous bar, Death and Co, out of NYC recently opened this location in D.C.. Located in Blagden Alley, this is an upscale cocktail lounge perfect for that fancy drink vibe.

Silver Lyan

900 F Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20004

This speakeasy is located in the basement of our wedding venue, the Rigg's Hotel. It's a world class bar with many awards. While you may not want to spend the day in this moody spot, it is perfect for a pre- or post-dinner drink. Reservations are recommended.

Allegory

1201 K Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005

A cliche speakeasy that is "Alice in Wonderland" themed. A cool spot for a drink if you want an awesome cocktail in a dark and mysterious place.

Martin's Tavern

1264 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20007

Located in Georgetown, this is a fun spot for drinks. This tavern is where JFK proposed to Jackie, with the booth marked inside! Grab a drink here before heading to Filomena or Chez Billy Sud for dinner.

Dirty Habit

555 8th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20004

Located within the courtyard of the Kimpton Hotel Monaco a block away from the wedding venue, Riggs Hotel. If the weather is nice, this would be a great spot for drinks outside in the courtyard. We don't recommend for food besides apps but drinks are great.

Shake Shack F Street

800 F Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20004

A classic chain directly across the street from our wedding venue. Perfect spot for a quick snack before or after wedding (midnight snacks?).
