Our Love Story We crossed paths a few times over the years at gymnastics meets—brief hellos, shared circles, and the occasional spotting across a crowded gym (Aunika has a picture of Kell from 4 years ago while at a gymnastics meet-borderline stalker moment). It wasn’t until Dan Alch’s Camp of Champions in Alaska that our story truly began. Aunika’s dad, Dan, graciously invited Kell to help coach at the camp, and that’s when things started to click. The sparks began to fly somewhere between chatting about Bible camp and bonding over the excellence of Aunika’s cinnamon rolls (seriously, they should win awards). What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into something more meaningful. Of course, every great love story comes with its challenges. In our case, it was a few thousand miles of long-distance. With Kell in Montana and Aunika in Alaska, we logged many hours in airports, late-night phone calls, and lots of hard goodbyes. But love doesn’t check luggage—it just finds a way. In April 2025, Kell made the big move to Anchorage, Alaska, trading mountain ranges for, well… different mountain ranges—and a much better cinnamon roll and quotebook supply. You’ll never guess—we got engaged! Yep, we made it official. Cue the happy tears, ring selfies, and a lot of excited calls to family from the Yellowstone Bible Camp kitchen phone.
