Kelly was expecting quality time with friends and family at the wedding of a childhood friend. Andrew was expecting a wedding weekend featuring lots of skiing and one too many beers shared with old Navy friends. It turns out they both got a whole lot more than they bargained for. After seating assignments that involved a bit of maternal gerrymandering, the California girl with two left feet found herself on a dancefloor she didn't expect to be on with the visiting "navy boy". Kelly's dad, Mike, eventually intervened and whisked his college-aged daughter away for the rest of the evening in anticipation of an early morning departure for the Bay Area. Luckily, Andrew was smart enough to ask Kelly for her number, thus beginning his campaign to keep her around for another 24 hours in an effort to lock in a New Year's Eve kiss and learn more about his dance floor muse. With some convincing from Andrew, friends, and grandparents alike, Kelly decided to stay in Tahoe an extra night to see if the dinnertime and dancefloor connection could turn into something more. A New Year's Eve kiss turned into emails, letters, playlists, and FaceTime calls between Lanikai, the Pacific, Florence, Boulder, and San Francisco. After years of long-distance, Kelly and Andrew took the plunge and moved to Washington DC together in 2019. Four years to the day after that first New Year's kiss, Andrew failed to corner Kelly's parents on a Squaw Valley chair lift but eventually got around to asking for Kelly's hand before the clock struck midnight. Six months later under a clear Lake Tahoe night's sky, Andrew got down on one knee, Kelly said yes and now we all find ourselves with Save the Dates in hand, headed for celebrations on September 24th in California. We hope you all can join us for a weekend filled with family, friends, love, and yes, a wedding dance floor like the one that started it all.
