We had seen each other at different events and said polite hellos, but we really got to know each other at a friend's house for a crunch-time study session before finals. He studied Chinese and I studied Business Management and after the hours of focus, the shenanigans began. We started sharing stories of our study abroad trips while the Grinch played in the background and picked each other's brains about our majors. By the end of the night, we were hooked.
In the midst of living long distance, Dylan had mentioned he wanted to spend one last weekend in Dahlonega doing the "Dahlonega Things." What he was referring to was spending some time at the wineries, eating at Gustavo's, and hiking Preacher's Rock; a short but beautiful hike one last time. The night before the hike, he kept reiterating how important it was that we leave by 8:00 am. In the moment, I was wondering why he was so excited to complete all the adventures on his list as he never really cared as much before, except for maybe Gustavo's. I, however, shrugged this off and directed my focus to make sure I was ready in time. I wore an old t-shirt and leggings while dylan wore khakis and a nicer athletic top; I should have known. At the top, he popped the question with a photographer waiting to capture the moment, and my best friend and maid of honor ready with Dunkin donuts to celebrate. The perfect proposal if you ask me.
