Rest Yourself River Ranch

Rest Yourself River Ranch

Originally an old boys ranch, RYRR was built and designed by Elmer Seybold with collaboration from renowned architect, Charles Dilbeck. The original name was Seybold Guest Ranch until 2008. It's mid-century Great Lodge furniture is original Circa 1946 custom designed and built by Habitant Furniture Co. Back in the day, the ranch offered a modern western glamping experience with rodeos, Olympic style swimming pool, tennis, hiking, fishing, boating, guided nature tours, 15 miles of horse trails, race track, horseshoe courts, rifle, pistol, skeet and archery ranges. The ranch entertained the elite in the members only, El Ranchero Club, which was rumored to also operate as a speakeasy and casino. Legend has it that Hollywood royalty such as John Wayne, Betty Davis and Ronald Reagan visited during the decadent boom of Mineral Wells. All these facts & more make the Bride and Groom so excited to share in the history as they join in marriage in the presence of family and friends.

The Historic Baker Hotel

The Historic Baker Hotel

Other than the wedding venue itself, what captivated the Bride the most about this small town, was learning about the historic Baker Hotel. Currently under renovation and looming large over the former resort town —physically and metaphorically — is the 14-story behemoth of 1920s architecture that for generations has sat crumbling. In it's prime, the Baker offered services of a doctor’s office, mineral baths, steam rooms, salt rubs, hot packs, manicures, and facials. Another big draw to the hotel was the variety of entertainers offered nightly which almost always included a famous face in the audience. Some famous names to appear on the guest list include Judy Garland, Clark Gable, the Three Stooges, Lyndon Johnson and Lady Bird, Roy Rogers, Jack Dempsey, Helen Keller, and Ronald Reagan. A local legend also contends that Bonnie and Clyde stayed in the hotel on one occasion under an alias. The grand opening of the new and improved hotel is slated for Fall 2023.
