Take a step back in time to the gilded age in this beautifully preserved series of buildings and gardens right here in Pittsburgh. Admission to the gardens, permanent collection of The Frick Art Museum, and a section of the Car and Carriage Museum is always free. Admission fees apply to certain special exhibitions in The Frick Art Museum, Car and Carriage Museum, and to Clayton tours.
Part of the Physics and Astronomy Department at the University of Pittsburgh, the Allegheny Observatory has a rich history of pivotal research and currently serves as a laboratory for a variety of student experiences. Friday night tours are held from April through October. All tours begin at 8 p.m. and last until approximately 10 p.m. A short presentation is shown followed by a walking tour of the building finally ending up at the 13" Fitz-Clark refractor. The tours are free of charge, but you must have a reservation.
