If you are reading this, it is because you are someone that we love and NEED in our lives. Our invitation to you is not only that you would attend the celebration of our joining in marriage—it is an invitation into the rest of our lives together. We are inviting you to hold us accountable before God and each other, to live lives of holiness. Don’t get us wrong—the joy and excitement of being married is in abundance! Kei and I (Hannah) both cannot wait to spend our lives with each other. But equally, we know that this union is not for the faint of heart. We look at marriage and the commitment that it entails as being a diagram of what it means for Christ to be whole-heartedly faithful and loving to His Church. Jesus, who is God, who created us and our world, who is perfect and good in every way, saw the dire state of humanity. He saw the brokenness and wickedness of human hearts. And like a criminal with a life sentence, the only way that we can get out of the judgement our sin brings upon us is by a third party bailing us out. The lofty price our our bail was Jesus—God’s son Himself—offering His body, perfection, dignity, and Kingly status as recompense for us. The Bible says that marriage is a picture of the sacrifice Jesus made for humanity—that a husband and wife will belong to each other, and count the other more important than themselves. So, as we invite you to join us in our union on August 2nd, we also invite you to monitor our life after August second. Please make sure often that we are living in a way that is servant-hearted to each other and to Jesus. Marriage to me (Kei) is not about success or finding more security in this world, but is about living in a way that is long-suffering, sacrificial, and enduring. It is living in the joy of God even in the midst of hardship. It is something that you are called to by the Lord Jesus. It is a honorable way to participate in a covenant between God, man, and woman, all made possible by the finished work of the cross. Please join us in prayer about these things leading up to August 2nd: - That our wedding day would point to THE wedding day—where Jesus comes back to find His bride perfect and spotless, and be in perfect unity with her. - That we would not be in a hurry to get to our wedding day, but would set our minds on things above, and be reminded to anticipate the return of Christ Jesus as we are feeling the sweet anticipation to marry each other. - That as we join not only as two people, but as two families, that we would experience perfect unity and shalom.
