It all started after we both swiped right 😉 24 hours later we had started a conversation and planned our first date. We met downtown in Newburyport at The Poynt restaurant. Chivalry is not dead with this boy: he (1) - offered to pick me up at my house and (2) - called to make reservations, but since the restaurant didn't take them he arrived 30 minutes early to put our name in. With the night still young, we decided to stroll down the boardwalk and then proceeded to drive down to where the O'Neil family boat was docked. We cracked open a Corona, sat on the bow, and chatted under the stars. Saying goodbye, AJ made a remark about hoping to see me again. I told him he could count on it. He made sure to text me later that night, especially since he had to fill me in on getting pulled over for speeding on the way home. Whoops.
We decided to reschedule a weekend getaway in Canada that was originally planned for 2020. There was no particular reason for rescheduling to this week or month - we're fans of spontaneous trips. We recruited our two favorite travel buddies to join us, our good friends Brad and Sam, for a long weekend of eating and drinking around Quebec. Unbeknownst to me, AJ had planned to have them capture the proposal and to help us celebrate the occasion. Rewinding to the day before our departure, he stopped into my dad's house to ask for his blessing. He then proceeded to drive to my mom's house where my brother was staying at the time - they gave him two more "absolutelys". Not risking the chance of me checking his location and finding him in Epsom, NH (yes, we share each other's locations), he decided to just give my sister a call to get the last approval he was looking for. The morning of our trip, we all piled into Brad and Sam's car (Banjo too!) and took the 6 hour drive up north (avoiding all moose). Once across the border and settled into the Airbnb, we decided to walk around downtown before our dinner reservations. Sam, without my knowledge, led us to the famous Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Each couple took turns snapping pictures of one another. But for the last shot... Sam laid down to get "THE" angle. Next thing I knew AJ was whispering in my ear and then smoothly dropped to his knee. We all know what I said 🥳
