We met freshman year of high school. One day during third period PE, a mutual friend introduced us to each other. First thing I asked Keith was "Do you know so and so Suguitan?" Since I was not the first ever person to ask him that, Keith laughed and said no. We chatted for a couple minutes until our class was called to go outside. We walked down the hallway side by side, not once did we leave each other's side. And now, after many years later, we will stand side by side once more. This time, at the altar, where we'll say "i do".
A Long Time Ago, In A Galaxy Far Far Away…. Actually, it took about 3 months of planning, starting in February 2021. Systematically, I would tell my parents and brothers about my plans to propose to the love of my life: Alyssa Marie Silva Macatuno. What might have been one of the most nerve-wrecking points of this planning phase was asking for permission from her parents. However, I’m blessed that I got both their blessing and approval, plus we ate at Buffalo Wild Wings, so that was a plus!! After that, I told her family and formulated the greatest plan in human history: the proposal. Location: Westmoor High School Date: April 10th, 2021 (Alyssa’s Birthday) The Task Force: Mom, Kuya Kevin, (Kuya) Kristian, Jessica, Janine, Sean, Michael, Mom and Dad, Vincent and Emmy, Auntie Karen, Auntie Liberty, Grandma Lita, Lian, Matthew, Aldren. I decided to bring Alyssa to the front steps of our old high school, Westmoor, where we met at the end of our freshman year. This part of the plan did not take 3 months, but has been brewing in my head for years. I always thought that it would be a cute idea, so now that I could finally put it through, it was the most exciting project in the world to me. I had Kevin, Kristian, and Jessica become the family’s first point-of-contact for questions about the time to be at the school (11:30-12:00) and where the picnic would be (the park right down the street). Funny thing was, when I finally got to the school with Alyssa, I saw her mom peaking out from behind a shed. This pushed me to redirect Alyssa’s attention at a random window at the school, making up a story that it was broken into weeks ago. Once I finished BSing that story, we turned around and overlooked the beautiful view of the city. I told her that we have had so many wonderful memories at Westmoor, then following up with “let’s make one more” (smooth, I know ;-) .....) This is when I dropped to one knee.
