In 2009 from a small city called Mbeya in Tanzania and a slightly bigger one called London in UK we both made the decision to volunteer on a youth development programme in Tanzania. From there our lifelong friendship began and who knew we would be here making the steps towards marriage?! While Reuben always thought we would end up together, I (Keisha) wasn’t so sure. We live 6510 miles away from each other, we’re practically the same height and we’re from very different cultures, how could this work?! God! We’ve been close friends ever since the programme and last year we decided to start a Bible challenge together where we read the New Testament in 40 days. Around day 3, I knew God was showing me Reuben is my husband and as we read about the miracles of Jesus, we knew we were receiving our miracle together too! We both grew spiritually during this time and our foundation of our relationship was solidly anchored in our God who is able to make all things new. On the last day of our Bible challenge Reuben’s visa was granted to visit the UK and we spent some time in Istanbul, London and Wales. It was on this trip our marriage plan was cemented. We chose the 7/7 because of the spiritual significance of the number seven representing completeness, wholeness and perfection (sorry it’s an inconvenient Tuesday). We feel so excited about what God has in store for us and thankful for the continued support from friends and family.
