Let’s start at the beginning

Part I

Our story begins like a modern day romance, online. Nate and I both joined an online dating website because we were both working a lot, and consumed with life and didn’t have a lot of time to go out and meet people more naturally. One day, I get a notification that a man by the name of Nate Cochran had sent me a message, it was very sweet, and very straight forward (loved that) He was interested in me and wanted to get to know me. I admittedly scrolled his profile combing for information about this mysterious man named Nate. He only had three pictures total to check out with limited answers on his profile (if you know Nate, you know he’s a man of few words.. in the beginning..lol) Limited pictures and information made it difficult to understand who he was, and what he was about. From one photo, I could guess that he was either law-enforcement or military with his “high and tight” haircut (hubba-hubba) from another photo, I could tell he was a Godly man (At this point, I had been praying long and hard for a Godly man) due to a wall full of crosses behind him (thank the Lord!) and the third photo was not even of him, it was a country scene (really kept me guessing) His next message stated, “I know it's last minute, but would you be interested in going to Church with me tonight at CCV (shout-out to the CCV framily) I thought about it briefly, before coming to the conclusion, “what do I have to lose?”

From day one, I knew it was you..

Part II

If worst came to worst, atleast I would have got to go to church. I drive to CCV and I begin to get nervous. Palms sweating, heart racing.. After all, I barely know anything about this man.. I walk inside and I see this tall, and extremely handsome man staring back at me. He was a tall drink of water in his thin blue line shirt, tight blue jeans, and cowboy boots. As I’m tripping over my jaw that’s dragging on the floor, I am walking up thinking, “please be him, please be him.” He introduces himself as Nate and gives me the warmest hug. I swear the room was spinning and time stopped. I was on Cloud 9. We chatted a bit before heading in and grabbing our seats. As we sat together, I’ve never felt so excited. I had a million questions and was dying to get to know him. But I was so glad that we sat through service prior to our date. It is symbolic for our relationship that we have and will put God first in our lives before each other. After service, we ordered some burgers and sat outside. Now fam, if you guys know us, you know that Nate and I LOVE our food. We are total foodies. But on this day, neither one of us finished our food because we were too interested in talking and getting to know one another. Talking to Nate was easy, getting him to talk was alittle harder (; He just liked to stare and smile! Over several hours we realized we had so much in common and really hit it off. Amongst many topics that were discussed, we both shared how important God was to one another and how fitting it was to have our first date, at church. As the sun set, I remember wishing the night didn’t have to end. I asked him to come to a game night with my friends and I, he agreed. We laughed and played games through the night. He was my partner that night and now, we are each other’s partners, forever and always. This was the beginning of something beautifully, fearfully, and wonderfully created. Thank you God

Proposal Part I

The feeling was mutual when I say that we both knew that one day we would marry each other. Nate and I talked about our expectations and how happy we would make one another as husband and wife. I recently had received some exciting job news and in order to celebrate, Nate planned a photo shoot up in our favorite spot in Sedona, Arizona. Our favorite spot is called Schnebly Hill and we frequent the place in our 4Runner often. He said the photo shoot was a gift to celebrate! The day before, he treated me to getting my hair and nails done as a gift from Valentine’s Day a few weeks prior. February 28, 2021, the day I’ll never forget. We went to church in the morning and headed up to Sedona in the afternoon. Once we arrived at our trail head we picked up our photographer and headed up the mountain. I was too busy taking in the sights and chatting up the photographer that I didn’t even realize that Nate was shaking in his boots! We arrived at the top of the mountain and the photographer showed us a new trail. This trail was surrounded with thick bushes and heavy shrubbery. We walked to the edge of the lookout and I remember seeing a guy sitting on the rocks overlooking the view, a cute couple taking in the view, and a woman in the bushes that took one good look at us and dove down into the bushes. Surprisingly, I didn’t think much of it because pink jeep tours go up there and bring tourists up all the time. Plus I was on a photo shoot with my Babe, nothing else mattered in that moment.

Proposal Part II

The photographer had us walk out to the rock ledge and I was still unsuspecting of what was about to happen. We took a few photos and a sign caught my eye behind me. At first I thought it was an elevation sign until I read it, “Kaylee will you marry me? – Nate” I turned back around and he was on one knee saying the things I’ve dreamt of hearing from the man I wanted to marry. I said, YES! and we exchanged lots of kisses. He then grabbed a bottle of champagne from under the sign (pop the champagne, I’m changing my last name!) Nate promised he would answer all of my questions them the photo shoot. We loved our photo shoot. The photos look like National Geographic meets bridal vogue. As we head down the mountain, he promised me I could ask questions at dinner. I thought since we were off roading, that was a fair request. We arrived at a restaurant and the waiter took us back. I see four people sitting at a table with the menus covering their face. I see his brother and sister and then two of my best friends. We then proceed further into the back patio and I am welcomed and surprised by all of our loved ones! As a pan across the room I can’t help but think how grateful I was. We enjoyed a nice dinner with all of our friends and family. Nathan says, do you remember those people in the bushes? The “couple” taking in the views, or the man on the rock? That was Mom, Dad, Krista, and Jesse. I was shocked! Krista managed to get an amazing video of the entire proposal. All of them suffered from scratches from the bushes due to their absolute dedication to make sure our proposal was perfect. If you get the chance to talk to Jon, Kathie, Krista, or Jesse at the wedding make sure to hear their side of the story! My mom also was so kind to treat us to a hotel room in Sedona. Where we all got to relive the moments over breakfast. February 28th could not have been more perfect. Thank you to Nate and everyone who helped him pull it off and celebrated with us.
