Our story begins long before we knew it. We first met as babies in Japan, where both of our fathers were stationed. Even then, God was quietly orchestrating something special. On August 3, 2020, I slid into his DMs about a skating video he posted on his story. I wasn’t thinking much of it at the time, but that one message turned into nonstop conversation, from texting to FaceTime calls that lasted for hours. On October 18, 2020, during the final night of my visit to see him in Virginia, he looked at me and asked, “You trying to be my girl?” I couldn’t help but laugh and said no. But then he paused, looked into my eyes, and asked again, this time with sincerity, “Will you be my girlfriend?” And in that moment, with my whole heart, I said yes. We spent the next two years in a long-distance relationship, learning to love across the miles, leaning on prayer, trust, and God’s perfect timing. In time, we closed the distance, moved in together, and welcomed the greatest blessing of our lives: our child Keilah. On July 28, 2024, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I said yes again—to forever, to partnership, and to the purpose God placed in our love. We believe our journey is a beautiful reflection of God’s faithfulness, one of divine timing, rediscovered connection, and a love that deepens with each passing day. “Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.” – Mark 10:9
