Flight
The best option is to fly into La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. Antigua is approx. 20 miles from the airport. However, please be aware that the duration of the drive can range from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the time of day and traffic.
Travel Note
If you would like to arrange private transportation from the airport to your hotel, please contact our wedding planner Patricia via email at patty@brideandgroomgt.com. The cost for this service is $72 for 1-3 passengers. Additionally, Patricia can assist you in organizing tours and activities in Antigua should you be interested!
Travel Note
Also a common and convenient option. Once you exit the airport, there will be official representatives dressed in uniform and an airport badge to assist you in hailing one. That way, you can have peace of mind knowing you’re dealing with a legitimate representative, and they may also help you catch a fair price.
Travel Note
For those who prefer not to take taxis, Uber is available in Guatemala City and Antigua! We relied on Uber for transportation the entire time during our trip in August.
House Or Rental
Airbnb offers a wide range of excellent accommodation choices. We recommend selecting a place to stay within the charming town center of Antigua, which is conveniently compact - with a distance of approx. 1 mile from one end to the other, making it easily accessible on foot. Additionally, Antigua features many smaller, more intimate boutique hotels if that's more your vibe.
Hotel
We recommend this hotel as it is a couple doors down from the reception. With its lush, beautiful gardens, charming colonial architecture and gracious hospitality, Porta Hotel Antigua is one of the most authentic, unique and unforgettable hotels in Antigua, Guatemala.

Travel Note
Keep in mind, rush hour during the weekday is from 6-9am. It’s primarily a one lane road from Antigua to Guatemala City that can be heavily congested. If you have a Monday morning flight and need to travel from Antigua to the airport, it is recommended to allocate at least three hours for the journey. This buffer will account for potential delays caused by heavy traffic, ensuring that you reach the airport on time for your flight. It's always better to be safe and allow extra time, especially during peak traffic hours.
