We met by a turn of fate and a lot of crazy decisions. It started as a friendly shopping trip at the mall, but quickly changed into something more. Only because of the Army was Zach stationed at Fort Bragg for a brief time, and only because of my knee injury was I still there as well. I liked his shoes, he liked my hair, and our relationship bloomed. Not long after we met, he had orders to move to Alaska, and we both thought, "Well, that was that." Yet even from far away, we still talked everyday. There was not a day that went by where he didn't know about my day, and vice versa. A few months went by and I finally met his mama, and got to learn about where he grew up. Still long distance, but still just as strong. It felt like we kept pulling short straws in our relationship, especially when he got orders to deploy to Afghanistan. If God hadn't tested our relationship yet, he sure was now. But we just kept doing what we always did. We talked constantly, and Skyped as often as we could. I wrote him letters and sent him boxes full of his favorite snacks. We would stay up late and talk about our hopes and dreams. Then one day, he was finally able to go home, and I was free to join him. We have been together ever since.
