We were planning on just myself going to Chicago, Miguel getting a couple buddies to be our witnesses, and we'd get married quick and easy. Until we told our parents. And they (of course) wanted to come. So now, with our closest family surrounding us, we are going to get married in Chicago, on June 2nd, in a real wedding dress and uniform. We'll get to take real husband and wife pictures (thanks to my mom who also doubles as a pretty good photographer), and we get to celebrate our love with the people that love us. So thankful for this man! I don't know who else would want to plan a wedding and travel arrangements in a little over a month but Miguel has!! Now we count down the days :)
On October 6, 2017, Miguel was in San Marcos visiting for the weekend and I was at work that evening for a few hours. My shifts are 3-5 hours long, so it wasn’t too much time out of the visit with my man! While I was at work, Miguel was gonna go grab some food with a friend of his from high school who happens to go to Texas State as well!! I got off work around 7:30 and I was on my way home and, I thought, Miguel was on his way home from dinner with his friend. When I got home, he’d left a sticky note on my door telling me he loves me and that he’d be home soon. Perfect, much?? Well, it gets better. I unlock the door, and I’m welcomed by my whole downstairs decorated with balloons, cute love songs are playing from a speaker filling the whole house with “Lucky” by Jason Mraz. I followed sticky note arrows to a bouquet of red roses painted with gold on top of their petals, balloons with cute notes led me upstairs and when I opened the door to my bedroom.... There he was!! He hadn’t gone to dinner with a friend, he’d spent the last 3ish hours running around like a crazy man to get the whole house ready for me to come home to the best proposal ever. I’m so blessed I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and my soul mate. Our families are ecstatic for their family to grow and come together and I can already see how fun our future together will be!!
September '16, Miguel made a trip to San Marcos with his newly 21 buddies to stay with some friends from high school. Those friends had a roommate, and that roommate was me. Having no idea what this would turn into, we hit it off that weekend and (after conveniently forgetting his pillow at our house) he had to come back, and then he just kept coming back and eventually I made my way to Little Elm where I met my future in-laws. Fast forward to falling in love and knowing this is where we are meant to be! And the cliche, the rest is history :)
