We both graduated from the University of MS School of Pharmacy, but we were 3 years apart so we missed each other by a few years in Oxford. Paul had been a pharmacist at Kroger pharmacy for about a year and a half when I took an internship my third year of pharmacy school at the Kroger in Jackson, MS. SO he was technically my boss at first. We always joke that we found love in a hopeless place ;) Paul did show me the ropes on being a pharmacist, and I always said he was a really great teacher/mentor. Flash forward--he moved to a different Kroger to take on a managing position, and I finished out my internship and started my clinical rotations the last year of pharmacy school. I forget when exactly we had our first 'official' date, but Paul helped me study and power through my toughest year of school and rotations across the state. Our official date is sometime in May of 2017, and we have been inseparable ever since. Paul bought our first home in October of 2017, and we currently live in Brandon, MS. Paul is still managing the same Kroger Pharmacy about 5 minutes from the house, and I manage a Walmart pharmacy in a smaller town about an hour from home. We enjoy traveling together the most! We have gone on several trips the last 3 years--our favorite being San Francisco so far! We love spending time with our closest friends, Paul's family, and my wonderful nieces and nephews! We are so looking forward to this next year of planning and celebrating with our loved ones. Thank you all for loving us and choosing to join in on our celebration! -Love Paul and Hil
We had a weekend trip planned to New Orleans with Paul's parents to go visit some of his family from out of town. We were meeting his brother, sister-n-law, and cousins for dinner Friday night in the city. I had no idea what Paul had up his sleeve! The four of us drove down to New Orleans from Jackson, and checked into our hotel. I was worried about where we were eating, and he said his cousin had picked a restaurant at their hotel on the top floor. I had never been to said hotel, but I hesitantly agreed! We arrive at the hotel, valet the car, and get on the elevator to the 17th floor of the hotel (looking back it was a very silent but lots of heavy breathing ride up!) I get off the elevator and see his brother and sis-n-law sitting at the bar, so I immediately wave and go up to them thinking nothing of it. They both hug us all, and tell us everyone is around the corner at the restaurant. (Again, I had never been to this rooftop "restaurant") So we walk and turn the corner and I immediately start saying "Paul, babe, omg, Paul". There were candles and rose petals placed in a walkway leading up to a sign that says "Marry Me?" placed in a big heart-shaped design. I couldn't walk, but somehow Paul got me to the heart, and I turned around and he is on one knee!! OF COURSE I say yes (through tears), and all of my closest friends, sister, and his cousins stand and cheer!! I have never, ever felt the emotions and love I felt that night. I was in awe and complete shock! He got everyone together to surprise me and witness one of the best nights of our lives. Side story: later Paul's parents go get the car from valet, so they ask Paul for the ticket... Paul had completely shredded the slip on the elevator ride up haha--guess he was a little nervous. :) Fun fact: Sean Payton got engaged the exact same night See yall in NOLA!
