We met when James was invited to plan Katie's and Brittany's 22nd birthday party after interning with Brittany. After hours of tedious and meticulous planning James settled on a horrible Bulgarian bar where wearing deodorant was optional by it's patrons. Despite the stench, James and Katie made their initial connection- love and body odor was in the air. James later built up the courage to ask Katie out on their first date. After discussing past stories and common interests, James stumbled upon Katie's past aim screename, Ukkate, named after having lived in London during her middle school years. James knew he couldn't show up empty handed to their first date so decided during the Christmas rush to bring his masculine friend Nick to Build-a-Bear to construct a gift for their first date. Surrounded by screaming children and frustrated parents, James kept his composure making important decisions such as what stuffing to use and how to dress the bear. James ended up embroding Katies screename, UKKate, on the bear's shirt and made a custom cardboard Columbia bag for the bear. Safe to say, James and Katie's first date went flawless. Constant laughs, eye contact, and no phones, James won Katie over at dinner and she took the shortcut to his heart- his stomach. After a full meal, the city girl showed James the ultimate NYC experience. They strolled around Bryant park and eventually ended their night at the Rockefeller tree. There the couple was complimented how good they looked together and James was asked where he met such a beautiful girl, to which he jokingly responded Craigslist. James then bought a flower for Katie after they both shared a laugh and ended their night the best way a first date could end. James and Katie still go back to Bryant Park and the Rockefeller tree every year to relive their first date.
