Question

What's the best airport to fly into?

Answer

For guests flying in from out-of-town, Deer Creek Mountain Camp is only about an 1hr and 10min drive from DIA/DEN!

Question

Should I rent a car?

Answer

We encourage guests to carpool or rent a car for the trip. Given Deer Creek Mountain Camp is up in the mountains, Ubers & Lyfts to / from town can be hard to come by. That said, the nearby town of Conifer runs a service called Ride-Need a Ride that you can set up in advance. Parking: there's a large gravel lot near the entrance to the venue, and guests who struggle with stairs can be dropped off at the driveway near the top of the venue.

Question

Will there be an Open Bar?

Answer

Yeppers! (But remember to pace yourselves given the altitude!)

Question

How high is this place?

Answer

Deer Creek Mountain Camp is located at about 9,000 ft in elevation! This altitude is nearly double that of the nearby towns of Denver & Boulder. One alcoholic drink will feel like two at altitude, so for those who plan to partake, remember to pace yourselves! :)

Question

Should I bring my own food and drink?

Answer

Dinners are provided Friday and Saturday. Drinks are provided during the cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. We are considering having some emergency snacks and water. That said, you are welcome to bring your own food, store it in the kitchens, and eat as you please! There's a Safeway on the way from Denver to DCMC :) And BYOB for Friday night.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

As much as we would love to have your kids join us, our seating limitations prevent us from accommodating children. We hope you can treat this weekend as an adult summer camp vacation (adults being kids) and come celebrate with us as we enter this exciting new chapter of our lives!

Question

Can I bring my pets?

Answer

To protect the wildlife (mostly some very friendly deer), Deer Creek Mountain Camp does not let pets stay onsite. We may bring our dog, Boo, for the ceremony, but even he will have to leave camp after the vows!

Question

What's the deal with lodging onsite?

Answer

Down for roughing it? We rented out the camp's eight bunk cabins with 10 twin beds (80 beds total). These are free in other words! Let us know if you want to stay in these. Not your style? Understandable. There are other lodging options nearby. Family and the wedding party will be placed in apartment-style lodging at camp. We also plan to have a few extra free beds available for those who intended to drive but end up wanting to stay the night. The more people that hang out on the property for the weekend, the better!

Question

Will I need to bring my own bedding to the bunk houses?

Answer

If you are staying in the bunk houses, they will come with a pillow, sheet set, comforter, and towels to use during your stay! Bring your own toiletries for the communal bathrooms, though, as shampoo / conditioner are not provided.

Question

What's the smoking policy?

Answer

While smoking is not allowed indoors at DCMC, it is permitted outdoors. If you choose to smoke outside (cigarettes or otherwise - it is Colorado after all), we emphasize that you PLEASE thoroughly put out any butts! Wildfire danger is a very real threat here. Coleman in particular gets paranoid about fires given that she saw the Marshall fires, watched her workplace nearly burn down from her bedroom window, and an apartment complex she had recently lived in burned down (from a neighbor's joint that wasn't well-enough extinguished) all in a 3-month time span. Our main goal is for everyone to have a spectacular time, so smoking is permitted. Just BE CAREFUL while doing so, for Coleman's sanity and the safety of the property! :)

Question

What's the weather going to be like?

Answer

How should we know? What are we meteorologists or something? But seriously, Average High Temperature for Bailey, CO on July 19: 81 °F Average Low Temperature for Bailey, CO on July 19: 46 °F July is a beautiful time of year to visit Colorado, and typically boasts sunny skies with the chance for brief afternoon thunderstorms! Should our day be blessed with convection, we'll move the ceremony indoors to the A-frame dance hall. The air is dry up there and the sun is strong, meaning you'll definitely want to apply sunscreen more often than usual! Daily temperature swings are larger than they are in Ohio or Oklahoma, so we'd also highly recommend bringing layers!

Question

Which Austin is best?

Answer

To find the answer, we will select one member of Team Harris and another from Team Coleman to face off in a battle royale fight to the death to kick off the wedding reception.
