In the summer of 2012, Sara frequented her neighborhood grocery store. While she didn't need to, she ended up grocery shopping every day because she knew a cute guy worked there. Keenan would often encourage Sara to go through his checkout line or the self-checkout so they could chat as her groceries were rung up. Sara always joked that Keenan should remember her club card number until one day he told her to write it down. After a week, he offered to carry Sara's groceries out to her car and after a little bit of small talk, Sara tested Keenan and asked if he had her number memorized-- he did! It wasn't until a week after that that Keenan sent Sara a text and they finally hung out outside of the grocery store and had their official first date at TGIFridays. Flash forward to December 2019. Keenan planned a date for what Sara thought was an end-of-the-school-year-happy-winter-break celebration. Keenan made reservations at a restaurant by the beach and suggested taking a walk on the boardwalk before dinner. Sara, Keenan, and Olivia walked down the Pacific Beach pier and unbeknownst to Sara, a photographer was capturing the moment. Once they made it to the end of the pier, just in time for sunset, they stood looking out at the water. Keenan looked down at Olivia, then at Sara and said: "So I asked Olivia what she wants for Christmas and she said she wants Mommy to have the same last name as us." He got down on one knee and proposed.
