Keely was volunteering with the Alzheimer's Association as part of their Blondes vs Brunettes annual fundraiser... Jim meanwhile was friends with some of the coaches for Team Blonde. They met at a couple of different events before they started talking and hanging out... Jim wanted to date and Keely was supposed to move to Utah for a job. She didn't want to do long distance, so things ended. Jim will to this day say she "ghosted" him, but she will argue he told her it was ultimately up to her. Fast forward three months, and Keely had decided not to move. Something didn't feel right and so she stayed in Denver and was spending some time switching career paths and figuring out life. Keely was having happy hour with Katie, her friend and now bridesmaid, and was invited to go watch the softball game Katie was subbing on that night. Off to have a good time, Keely had no idea Jim was on the softball team!! They ran in to each other, and after an awkward hello from Keely not having moved, they said hello and that was about it. Moving forward... Jim went on a couple of dates with a girl, and things just didn't work out. Having ran into Keely, he thought, hey why not give her a call again, after all he had really liked her before and thought she really liked him too. Why not give it a shot? Who knew where things would go. So he text her... At first it was let's get coffee and catch up... somehow coffee turned into wine. Neither was sure if it was a date. Keely had to cancel and reschedule because she lost her voice!! Not making the best second impression! But Jim still gave her a chance. Their first date was November 8, 2016 at Cru Wine Bar. Jim had to refill his meter because they were there for so long! Needless to say they had a great time. Keely text him the next day already asking to hang out again... They got their first dog, Heinz, together in May 2017, followed by Keely moving in, and in January 2018 they adopted their second dog Henley. Life is good!!!
STEP 1: Jim and Keely talk about everything!!! So Keely knew when Jim was planning on asking her dad's blessing when they made a trip to Arizona in October 2017. Of course he said yes because Jim is so awesome!! He welcomed him into the family and one step was checked off!! STEP 2: Keely has always been very close with her family and, especially between the women, family jewelry has always had a lot of meaning. Keely was very excited to have her great-grandmother's wedding band as her own for one day and Jim knew this meant a lot to her. So when Keely's mom also gave her blessing in October she gave them the ring and off they went to find the perfect engagement ring to compliment her wedding band in March 2018. After three hours and trying on what felt like pratically every ring in the store, they found the perfect setting. A couple phone calls later, Jim had a family friend custom building the ring of Keely's dream. It came in the mail all the way from Philly, and Keely signed for the package!!! She knew the ring was in the house... STEP 3: They have blessings from their families. They have the ring. Now Keely was just WAITING for the proposal!! A long two week vacation planned in San Diego in June 2018 was the perfect backdrop and Jim knew it. The first day of vacation they were going to be with Keely's mom, sister, nephews, grandfather, cousin, and counsin's fiance... it would be perfect!! All day Jim was nervous and Keely could not pinpoint the source of his weird anti-social behaviour... I mean let's be honest Jim is a social butterfly! Everyone escaped the condo for lunch down by the bay, and Keely and Jim went out to put their toes in the sand, but instead of just his toes Jim got down on one knee.... it was PERFECT (and everyone was on standby with cameras)!! The best part was getting to enjoy the rest of their amazing vacation celebrating their engagement during their little escape from the world!!
