How We Met

How it started: Symone and Jarvis both had job interviews on the same day for a training program on base in 2016. Symone’s stepdad told her a friend of his’ son was also interviewing. She paid it no mind until after the interview her step dad asked how it went; she responded and added some guy with a small head was there as well not sure if that was the son; which it was Jarvis. Fast forward.. Symone’s version.. I started a position on base being trained by a lady named Sylvia. We became really close; calling her my work mom and I was one of two of her “crazy work children.” We went walking outside as usual and noticed “ the small head” guy again. She spoke, I didn't. We got back to our desk and I asked her about him. Come to find out, she was a family friend, his AAU basketball team mom. She sent him an instant message to welcome him to base only to find him standing at her desk while I'm there a few minutes after. Still no words exchanged. He left and I asked Sylvia if he was dating anyone, (no harm, just asking) he was kinda cute then. She asked, he responded with, "no, who wants to know?" I went back to my desk and messaged him after a while and said “ hey its me” we had very brief small talk and Jarvis responded “ going down the hall text me” and here we are 3 1/2 years later... His version: He doesn't remember! :)

The Proposal

Sunday, March 8, 2020

Symone's daughter Khylie was having her 5th birthday party. The entire party Symone was racing the kids and other guests on the obstacle course. The party came to an end; all the party guests left except family and close friends. As everyone was standing around mingling and cleaning up, Jaden a close family friend's son called Symone out in the "final race." Phones came out, and guests were yelling "this race will change your life." Symone's mom, being creative as she is had the two start the race backwards, from the end first. As Symone came to the end of the race, which was through a tunnel, Jarvis was waiting on one knee.
