Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: On a Beautiful Evening in August of 2016 after months of pleading for her attention Joe finally got Keekee to go out on a date with him at the Baltimore Seafood & Crab Restaurant. The night air was just right and it was as if they had known each other forever. After dinner they weren’t ready to call it a night so they decided to ride around together and get to know each other a little more. Keekee being the extremely inquisitive woman she is insisted that Joe ride with her so, she followed him to his place and he parked his car and road with her. Later Joe realized that she was sizing him up. They road around looking at houses late into the night and the date ended with the promise of more to come. Needless to say this relationship has grown into a love that continues to transform both Joe & Keekee. The strong personalities of both have created some hurdles but, they too have been overcome time and time again by a love that burns deep within for each other. The months passed down and the years rolled and this love continues to last a lifetime.
Trying to surprise Keekee is the hardest thing to do because beside the word nosey in the dictionary there lies a picture of her. Joe knew he had to really plan his proposal to her at the very last minute otherwise she would find out. On their 4th Anniversary Joe made reservations at The South City Kitchen in Buckhead as well as Reservations at The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Downtown Buckhead. He made the staff at both locations aware of his plans and they all agreed to work with him. With just two hours before their dinner reservations Joe called to Keekee’s brother and asked that he bring their mother to the restaurant so she could witness this special occasion. Keekee was completely unaware of any of the events that were soon to unfold. Joe & Keekee arrived to the Waldorf Hotel and all the staff was waiting and excited but Keekee was still blind to anything that was taking place. We had a few cocktails in the Hotel Lobby before dinner then drove the one mile to the restaurant. Shortly after being seated our family had arrived downstairs and was waiting for the moment. Keekee loves cheesecake but it wasn’t served on the menu so Joe had the waitress to pretend that they ordered some especially for the occasion. Just before dessert Joe went to the bathroom and that was the sign to bring the ring and for family to follow upstairs. The waitress brought the ring on a covered plate and down went Joe on one knee. Keekee was in complete shock and awe and even a tear rolled down her face. Needless to say Joe finally pulled a fast one over on her and she said yes to being his “Sure Thang”, his “Good Thang”, his “Helpmate.”
