Lauren and Keegan both grew up in Cincinnati, though their paths didn’t cross until 2018. Two of their friends happened to be dating and decided to set them up on a double date in December 2018. At the time, Lauren had just finished her first semester at Ohio University, and Keegan had wrapped up his first season in the minor leagues. Their first date was at the Cincinnati Zoo’s Festival of Lights — and that’s where it all began. During that evening, Keegan made every effort to get to know Lauren, but she wasn’t too sure about the idea of a long-distance relationship (ironic, given how things turned out!). Over the next year, the two would occasionally exchange messages, always somehow finding their way back to each other. Then came 2020 — and with it, the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lauren returned home early from school, and Keegan’s baseball season was cut short. While that time was filled with uncertainty for the world, it brought something unexpected and beautiful for them: they started talking every day — and soon, they couldn’t imagine going a day or even an hour without each other. What began as a set-up date has turned into a love story built over five unforgettable years — a story full of growth, laughter, challenges, and unwavering love. Through all the ups and downs, one thing has always remained constant: the deep bond they share.
