We met as freshmen in college. Matt was a baseball player while Christina was on the cross country team. We knew of each other, but we had different friend groups and never really crossed paths, except for the one year Christina was an RA. That year, we had a few run-ins...like the time Christina was sleeping when she was awoken around 1:00 am by rowdy college boys in her residents' hallway. Annoyed, she went out into the hallway in her pajamas and bed head to find Matt, a junior, putting a freshman into a headlock. He somehow charmed her into not writing him up. Or the time Matt was throwing a party in the "Baseball Suite" while Christina was the RA on duty. She knocked on the door, Matt answered with a beer in his hand that Christina, unfortunately, had to confiscate. However, Matt politely refused by putting the beer behind his back and simply asking in his likable way, "What beer?" Christina rolled her eyes as Matt told her that if the suite got too loud again, he would take care of it. Once again, Christina let Matt's charm win. Fast forward to a year after college graduation, we connected again through social media. Matt asked Christina out on a date and the rest is history!
On the morning of Saturday, November 7, Matt had told Christina he wanted to go golfing. The weather was unusually warm for that time of year - in the 70s! Christina was a little bummed because she wanted to hang out with Matt that day in the warm weather. Christina's sister, Kirsten (who was in on the proposal), had then convinced Christina to head down the Cape with her for the night. Matt put on his golf gear and headed out to the golf course...or so Christina thought. Kirsten then drove Christina to Sandwich while they jammed out to songs from the 2000s. The girls finally got to the house where their parents were. As soon as the bags were brought in from the car, Kirsten asked Christina to go for a walk to the beach. Once there, Christina noticed a man standing on the boardwalk that looked just like Matt. She finally realized who it was and got excited he was surprising her, not realizing what was actually happening! As she walked towards him, she asked him at least four times why he was there and not golfing. He then pulled out the most beautiful ring, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him!
