Our First Impression

It all started with a few likes. Rylee noticed Keaton liking her posts on Instagram, so she decided to make the first move by adding him on Snapchat and sending that very first snap on September 20, 2021. After a few days of snapping back and forth, she knew she wanted to meet him in person. At the time, Rylee was working at Misty’s Dairy Bar in Wheelersburg. She casually asked Keaton what his favorite milkshake was. “Strawberry,” he replied. So she asked if he wanted one. Of course, he said yes, but considering the 35-minute drive from Wheelersburg to Oak Hill, he didn’t think she was actually serious. He quickly realized she was when she sent him an ETA. Trying to impress, Keaton asked his mom if he could take her car. He told Rylee to meet him at “the pig.” The only problem? Rylee had no idea what “the pig” was, she’d never even heard of a Piggly Wiggly. With a melted chocolate milkshake in her cup holder, Rylee drove into Oak Hill… and completely passed the only grocery store in town. Instead, she ended up at Adena Family Medicine, a couple streets away from where she was going, confused and lost as to where her GPS just took her. She called Keaton, who patiently guided her back to “the pig" laughing at the fact that she drove right past it. How she missed it, we will never know. When she finally arrived, Rylee hopped into Keaton’s mom's passenger seat, and the two decided to just drive around because Rylee had never been to Oak Hill. Keaton took her to Jackson Lake, where they parked and walked out onto the spillway. Rylee was sure he’d try to hold her hand or make a move, but not once did he lay a finger on her that night. A true gentleman. After their walk, they drove back to the pig, said goodbye, and Rylee headed home hoping that wouldn’t be the last time she’d see him. Five years later, it wasn’t. Now, they’re getting married, and it all started with a melted milkshake and a little place called “the pig.”
