In 2017 while Marvin was living in Spain, Keaton saw him in a friend’s Instagram post, thought he was handsome and decided to follow him not knowing where it would go. A few months later, Marvin returned to Turlock for a trip to visit friends and they happened to match on Tinder. At that point Marvin knew he had to message this guy. It said, “since we’re friends on Instagram and we matched here I guess I should say hi.” After consulting with their mutual friend who told them both, “you would be perfect together!” they decided to meet up on January 6, 2018 and talked for hours. Marvin returned to Los Angeles the next day, but they talked every day from that point on. The next weekend, Keaton came for a visit and they had their first official date at California Pizza Kitchen and spent the weekend going to brunch, sitting on the beach, and sharing stories about life and the futures they wanted. Then on February 10, 2018 they took a trip to visit Paso Robles where Marvin asked Keaton to officially be his boyfriend in Bubblegum Alley.

Every year Keaton and Marvin typically take a trip to the coast for their anniversary and this year was no different. They went to spend a weekend in Monterey and Carmel with plans to go to the aquarium, hit the beach, and just relax with some good food and good wine. Unbeknownst to Marvin there was a much bigger plan at play. They arrived at the beach with lunch, games, and each other’s company. Keaton led the way, and Marvin thought...”look at all this beach why are we walking so far,” but finally made it to the spot, laid out a blanket and sat down to have lunch, play card games, and reminisce over the last 6 years of their relationship. Keaton was waiting for sunset to propose, but Marvin was unaware and wanted to take off early because of the coastal chill, almost ruining things. Keaton did everything he could to keep them there longer. After the beach was mostly clear of people Keaton pulled a ring out, opened it up and said, “will you marry me?” There were other words spoken but we’ll keep that between us. The first words out of Marvin’s mouth were...”is this a joke?!” He was flabbergasted, pulled the ring out of the box and started to put it on his own finger. Keaton said, “wait, are you saying yes, you haven’t said yes, if you are I can do that for you.” Marvin was so shocked, handed him back the ring and said YES!
