Our Story

January 26th, 2014

Our Story (Aka Megan's favorite story to tell at parties) starts at Niles West High School in 2014. It was the start of the second semester of Megan's senior year, Sam's junior year. Megan didn't do so well in school back then, so she had to complete a junior English class to graduate on time with her classmates. Unbeknownst to her, Sam was in on the news before she walked in the door, and was waiting to surprise her with an introduction she will never forget... Megan walked into English class that day as the usual teacher's pet. She sat right in front of the teacher, as a friend she knew sat behind a few seats behind her. She sat quietly and listened as the lesson started, all for it to be interrupted abruptly 5 minutes later by a loud bang from the classroom door. In walked a very confident Sam; Aeropostale sweatshirt, blue jeans, and hair spiked into the center with so much hair gel it could combust at any second. "Who is this jerk?" she asked herself quietly He strode across the room, in front of the teacher (who, god bless her, was just trying to teach her lesson), and flung his backpack across the remaining space between Megan and him, where it slammed into the desk with a loud thump. "Hey, you're in my seat." he said slyly. Megan saw out of the corner of my eye Mrs. Lewis, our teacher, roll her eyes. Megan was horrified. "Oh my god, I am so sorry! I can move if you want!" "No need, I'll just sit behind you." Sam said as he sauntered to the seat behind him. Sam took a seat at the empty desk directly behind Megan. During the rest of class, Sam proved to be EXTRA helpful, offering to share his book during readings, reminding her where they were in the book, and answering every question Mrs. Lewis asked that day. After the class was over, Sam tapped Megan's shoulder. "Wanna walk me to my next class?" he said. She agreed, but was a bit confused when the walk to his next classroom was consistent of only a few steps and one flight of stairs. At this point, once they had arrived to the next classroom for Sam's next class, Sam leaned back onto the lockers behind him, arms crossed and one of his legs propped up against the lockers. "So." he started, "There's a movie coming out this week that I was going to go and see with my friend. Would you want to come with?" Megan was taken aback, but was more amused that this kid was trying so hard to impress her. She agreed. Sam's friend ended up bailing for the movie, which created Sam and Megan's first date. And the rest is history; 10 years in the making

The Engagement

July 4th, 2022

It was a day we will never forget. It started with a plan to attend the local parade in Morton Grove, where Sam was going to propose in front of all of our friends and family. But to his dismay, all Morton Grove 4th of July events had gotten canceled due to a shooting in the near vicinity (very America, eh?). Sam was panicking, as Megan was so dismayed over everything being canceled that she didn't even want to leave her room for the day. With some poking and prodding, Megan joined the party going on downstairs, where all of our friends and family were conversing and laughing together. We were having a great time, when Sam very sneakily gathered everyone inside into the living room. He called Megan into the living room, and the rest is history!
