Our Love Story

Senior Year Homecoming Dance October 2014

December 14th 2014 she said yes. I had just taken her to see the newest Hunger Games movie at the AMC theater in Golf Mill mall. I was so nervous. The film was over and I couldn’t even tell you what the main character’s names were. We hopped into my red single cab dodge dakota and drove back to Kearney’s parents house on Fir street in Glenview. That’s when I popped the question.. “will you be my girlfriend?” Two months prior, despite walking the same hallways at Glenbrook South Highschool everyday for 3 years, we were strangers. We had never even heard each other's names. It was October. Right before Homecoming. We were seniors. I was dateless as the dance was nearing. Our mutual friend TJ would NOT let his buddy John miss out on the last homecoming dance of all of high school so he set me up with his close friend… Gabby. She didn’t have a date to the dance either so it was perfect. She got a date. I got a date. TJ’s buddy John got to go to the dance. Things are really playing out nicely. That lasted for a total of two days before TJ broke the news to me. He was stealing my date. He informed me that he wanted to take Gabby to homecoming and that I would now be going with his former date, Kearney Almond. I had no idea what a “Kearney” was, but I’m a good sport so I thanked him for still making sure I could attend the dance. We shook hands and I got to asking around. A “Kearney” turned out to be this gorgeous girl with the brightest smile I had ever seen. I was so excited to meet her. A couple hours later, it was lunch time and there she was. Sitting at a table with all her girlfriends talking about how she’s freaking out that she gets to go to the dance with this super handsome guy named John Noll instead of his buddy TJ. I knew this because I have always been good at knowing what she's thinking. For example, I know she loves how good my cars sound when I start them at 11pm. The rest is history. We danced together, laughed together, and then grew up together. We’re both grateful that the previews are coming to an end and that the feature film is finally starting. Man those previews took forever… See you all soon!
