Dom and I met long ago in high school around a campfire where I was affectionately referred to as “Briannes Bug Eyed Cousin”. Can’t you just feel the love! We reconnected after college (hopefully by then I had grown into my bug eyes!) when we started playing adult volleyball together and became fast friends. Many years later the truth came out that all those years ago around a campfire in 2007 Dom thought I was cute and finally asked me out! Shortly after our first date we realized just how easy it was to go from being best friends to “friend girl”to boyfriend and girlfriend. We then bought our camper together and started traveling the country! As we grew closer and adventured more we knew that this was how we would spend our lives, in love and adventuring with our best friend at our side! We are so excited to start our next adventure and so grateful to all of the friends and family we have to share this experience with!
In May of 2021 we set off on our neewest adventure - road tripping the southwest! We headed south through Mammoth Caves, on to Nashville, Hot Springs Arkansas, and finally as far southwest as we could get to Big Bend National Park in Texas. We knew this would be a special trip because this park is so remote we may never get the chance to go back, I didn’t know at the time just how special it would be to us! Before leaving there was a lot of the usual questions from family and friends if I thought Dom would propose to me - but he had made sure I had no expectations of that happening on this trip. One night after a long day of hiking in the park, Dom suggested we go star gazing. So after dark we packed up the truck with some chairs, snacks, and a star chart (obviously, super nerd alert!). We drove about an hour from our campsite into the heart of the park and parked the truck, set up the bed with our chairs, a candle, and got to star gazing! While sitting out there in the middle of nowhere appreciating the beauty of it all Dom leaned in and said “wouldn’t this be such a nice place to propose!”. I responded a little angry because “Yes! This would be the perfect place too bad you aren’t going to do it!”. I asked Dom to stop teasing me about it and he leans in to kiss me and says “what if this time is different?” as he slipped the ring box into my hand and dropped down on one knee!!! You can only imagine my surprise at this - but it was such a perfect moment in time we will remember forever!
