Little did we know that the Y would bring us together. We started out as friends and as the months went by our friendship grew stronger. It was a spin jail that really helped us grow, as Dan decided he would help Ashley escape. More months went passed and finally Dan decided to ask Ashley to come over to bake cookies. Although the cookies may not have been the best their relationship sparked.
On the day, I knew I was faced with an uphill battle, as Ashley was in the middle of a Dance Costume Ordering crisis which was occupying much of her time. With the goal to have her focused and available, I provided her with a quiet house and all the computer screens she would need to help organize the task at hand. However, 30 minutes turned into an hour, which then turned into a few hours...so I had to think on my feet. Promptly 5 hours later she was finally done with her work and with the ring in my pocket, I was ready. however, sporting the workout clothes from the morning did not work for the picturesque moment, so I strategically suggested for her to shower and get changed because we had dinner plans later. While I was successful in convincing her to shower, I miscalculated her aptitude to get ready at the last possible second. Sporting a loose t-shirt and YMCA sweatpants, I did not have many options as she walked down the stairs. Then the next hurdle, Ashley was adamant about finishing the season finale of "Love Is Blind." I did not want to give anything away, so I politely said "...yea..sure, no problem with me" However, in my head I was saying "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" During the show Ashley encouraged me to sit down, but my nerves were dancing in my skin. I did anything but sit down, cleaned some dishes, chopped up food, put clothes away....even grabbed a sweatshirt for Ashley to handle the 'T-shit Error.' 90 minutes had past until the show was finally over. I invited Ashley to the kitchen to have a beer and play a card game, which is our favorite past time tradition. I rigged the deck to ensure she would win the game, and as she flipped over the winning card the Queen of Hearts was shown with an inscription, "Will you marry me?" As you can guess, she responses with...."Are you kidding..." But eventually exclaimed with a, yes! So in reality, I won!
