How We Met

10/30/2010

Even though we went to high school 30 minutes apart it took distance for Love to find us two. On 10/20/2010, we met in Tallahassee, FL, 3 hours away from our home, at FAMU's annual homecoming. I was attending FAMU and living in Tallahassee while he was just visiting from Leesburg, FL. and we just so happen to end up at a mutual friends party. I don't recall the exact events from the night but he would tell you that I purposely "lost my phone" and used his to call mine just so I can have his phone number. (I cant confirm nor deny this statement). We kept in constant contact even after he went back to Leesburg and we would be intentional about seeing each other from time to time. It wasn't "love at first sight" and I wasn't sure he was "the one", but for some reason we never lost touch.

The Proposal

01/01/2019

Everyone was in on the secret but Kelsea. Her & Dustin were in Atlanta, GA for New Years like they had been the years prior so there was no need for suspicion. They stayed at Kelsea's best friend Casey's house preparing for just a usual night of food, drinks, and good vibes awaiting to bring in the new year. The room was full of close friends and they proceeded to play the game Taboo (Kelsea's favorite). It went on for some time until it was Dustin's turn. He proceeded to get his team (AKA Kelsea because everyone else was fake guessing lol) to guess the word on his card. He used clues such as "What's the question you ask when you get married?" and "How do you ask?" but Kelsea was just not getting the hint. Dustin always laughs about how good Kelsea is at Taboo but in this particular moment she was having a harder time than usual guessing the word. Finally she blurted "Oh, will you marry me!" knowing that was the correct answer and waiting for the next card. Instead, Dustin put the deck down, grabbed the ring, got on one knee, and said "That's right, cool, check this out, so will you marry me?". She was completely in shock that he was able to pull something off like this without her having the slightest clue. She was so consumed by the game she had been completely oblivious to all of the cameras that were recording the entire time. It was such an amazing way to bring in the New Year and something she will truly never forget.
