Things To Do

We get to live in this wild wonderland and we hope you get to experience some of the magic this place holds. We recommend flying in a few days early to see bears, catch salmon, view a glacier, and climb a mountain.
Celebration 2022

Celebration 2022

This incredible event will be going on from June 8-11 all throughout downtown and Douglas. For four days every other June, the streets of Juneau fill with Native people of all ages dressed in the signature regalia of clans from throughout Southeast Alaska and beyond. There is traditional song and dance. Arts and crafts. Food. And people speaking local Native languages. This is Celebration, our biennial festival of Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures. Celebration is one of the largest gatherings of Southeast Alaska Native peoples and is the second-largest event sponsored by Alaska Natives in the State of Alaska.

Mendenhall Glacier

Mendenhall Glacier

6000 Glacier Spur Road, Juneau, AK 99801

See the glacier, tour the visitor center, and (if you're lucky) you might see a furry friend. We recommend walking out to Nugget Falls while you're here (2 miles roundtrip).

Sheep Creek

Sheep Creek

4401 Thane Road, Juneau, AK 99801

See the salmon run up close! This is one of Kaitlyn's favorite spots in town. (Fun AK fact: King, pink, coho and chum salmon can be found throughout the Juneau area.)

Sandy Beach

Sandy Beach

101 Savikko Road, Juneau, AK 99824

A great place to take a walk on the only sandy beach in Juneau. There are options to take a self-guided tour of the Treadwell mine where, at its peak, was among the largest gold mining operations in the world. This is also where Max and Kaitlyn got engaged!

Perseverance Trail

Perseverance Trail

Perseverance Trail, Juneau, AK 99801

A gorgeous walk with some elevation gain. You can see where mining historically took place with mine shafts and remnants of the Red Mill Mine visible from the trail. Watch for bears-- we have plenty of bear spray for you to borrow!

Mount Roberts Tram

Mount Roberts Tram

490 South Franklin Street, Juneau, AK 99801
, (907) 463-3412

Hike (2.5 miles) or take the tram (2.5 minutes) up to the top of Mount Roberts for epic views of the Gastineau channel and the surrounding mountains. There is a restaurant, bar, and nature center at the top. Bonus points if you see a porcupine! The tram is run by Goldbelt, which is an Alaska Native corporation headquartered in Juneau, incorporated in 1974 as a result of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA).

Mount Juneau (Yadaa.at Kalé)

Mount Juneau (Yadaa.at Kalé)

Trail connects to Perseverance, Juneau, AK

Looking for a scenic way to get a workout in and stretch your legs? This 6.8-mile round trip hike offers 3400 feet of elevation gain and some remarkable views. Keep an eye out for marmots, wildflowers, and waterfalls.

Whale Watching

Whale Watching

This is a company that we recommend for whale watching tours. Free coffee, beer, and hot cocoa aboard. They follow guidelines to ensure marine wildlife safety. Have a whale of a good time! (Book early, these tours fill up quickly)
