So this is the story of how we first got acquainted. It stated out as a regular Sunday. Kc approached me asking for a ride to our YSA wards bonfire. She had and still has a much nice car than me. I was driving at the time a used mini van used for construction and rather dirty. "She didn't want to get her's sandy since she just washed it" At least that was her excuse... either way clearly I didn't mind. Although we had known each other since we were 5 years oldish, we had never really talked. When we got to the beach it took us while to find the spot, primarily because we got there early. We kicked around a soccer ball and played some other games waiting for the other to arrive but before long KC asked me our infamous question that sums up our relationship. Do you want to go swimming? I recall that at the time I was fully clothed and had no intention of swimming that day, but for whatever reason I said Yes. So leaving behind our valuables we ran into the water. We seriously bonded that day talking about some of our favorite quotes from a childhood favorite "Avatar the last Airbender" and about the things we really enjoyed about life. Mostly we enjoyed relaxing in the waves. Suddenly the waves began to become overbearing becoming rapidly larger and larger and crashing onto the sand. Kc had developed a Charlie horse of a cramp and needed my help to carry her out. Once we got her onto the dry sand, and had the lifeguards get Kc back to good health, we had a long laugh about the whole situation. It's the little things, the fun everyday adventures, and acts of kindness that keep things happy in our relationship. We decided to take a leap of faith that day and trusted in one another that in the end it would be worth it. I believe that leap of faith is worth it considering where we are now getting married a year later. -Lucas Heil
