The City of Roses' claim to fame. You might get lucky to see some roses still in bloom in September! It's a beautiful place for an afternoon picnic. The Japanese Garden has a fee but is well worth a visit.
This is the best ice cream shop you'll find in Portland (if you like that sort of thing). Eclectic flavors, unlimited tastings, and a line down the block to prove it's as good as we say! KC's Cone - Arbequina Olive Oil Kyle's Cone - Honey Lavender
Always a fun, open air place to visit while in Portland. Situated on the downtown waterfront, you can look through local artist booths and grab a bite to eat from a food cart. Despite the name, they are open both Saturdays 10 - 5 and Sundays 11 - 4:30.
For folks itching to get a bit further out of town, the historic highway is the way to go! Beautiful vistas of the Columbia River Gorge and endless waterfall hikes. Punchbowl Falls, Angel's Rest, and Wahclella Falls are some of our favorite hikes. If you get as far as Hood River head down to the waterfront and grab a beer at Pfriem!
Broder is a delicious Nordic breakfast joint that is worth the long wait. They have amazing danish pancakes and pastries. Try the Lost Eggs or the Swedish Hash for a taste of some of our favorites. If the line is unreasonably long, walk across the street to the dive bar Dots or the corner breakfast place called Off the Waffle for a back up choice.
