Somehow growing up less than 15 minutes apart and both attending Ohio University, the two never managed to actually meet until 2020 at a friend’s apartment. In typical Katie fashion, she was more concerned about eating pizza and finishing her drink than talking to this stranger. Fast forward 6 months… A tale as old as time, we credit our relationship blooming from Blame My Roots Fest, a 3 day country music concert just minutes away from both of our hometowns. Katie impressed Jared with sharing their mutual love of country music, busch light and most importantly…crocs. After a few short (but very nerve racking) weeks and also making sure that one another checked all the boxes on each of their secret lists, the two became “official.”
After several months of waiting and Katie thinking a proposal was no where in the near future, he finally popped the question! On the day Katie decided the Christmas tree could be decorated, the morning started out pretty typical…sending JB to the basement to get the decorations because she’s highly afraid of them herself. As they finished the tree and Katie began getting ready for their Sunday football ritual at Gressos, she was informed by JB that he had an additional ornament to add to the Christmas tree. Now, if you know JB at all you wouldn’t expect him to have anything good (or serious for that matter) as an additional ornament. As he made Katie follow him to the the living room, he hung up his ornament for her to see and inside read “Will you marry me?” In complete shock she turned to him and there he was, on one knee and waiting with the ring!
