Troy and I had actually been in the same friend circle for over 15 years… which means we somehow managed to attend the same events, know the same people, and still completely miss each other. Apparently the universe just needed a little extra time to get its timing right. On June 10, 2025, I finally agreed to go on a lunch date with Troy at Tandoor & Tap in Statesboro. I’ve been going there for years and know the owner, AJ, personally. I happened to get there before Troy did, and like any responsible woman going on a first date… I decided to run a quick background check. So I asked AJ about Troy. AJ immediately started laughing and said, “Oh no Kaysie… if you’re not looking for something serious and just a good time, he’s the one.” Well… AJ clearly underestimated us. That lunch turned into an amazing first date — and honestly, it feels like we’re still on that date because I never left him. From the moment we sat down together, everything just felt easy. Conversation flowed, the laughs came naturally, and it didn’t take long for both of us to realize something special was happening. Not long after, we took a trip together to the mountains of North Carolina. Somewhere between the mountain views, the laughter, and realizing we genuinely liked each other even before coffee in the morning, we both knew we had found our person. When we got back home, we made it official and announced our engagement. After somehow being in the same circle for 15 years without meeting, we’re convinced the universe was just waiting for the perfect moment to introduce us. And now we get to spend the rest of our lives together. Also… AJ, if you’re reading this — you were half right. Troy is a good time… he’s just also my forever. 💍
