Paul and Kayoung first crossed paths in college, both attending UT Austin and sharing mutual friends, but never speaking. They frequented the same spots, studied in the same places, and had a lot of overlap in their social circles, yet they remained strangers throughout their time there. After graduation, they both went their separate ways. But in the summer of 2022, Kayoung moved to Austin and started attending the same church as Paul. Their paths began to cross more often through church events and hangouts. By the summer of 2023, Paul decided to make a move and invited Kayoung to hangouts. What started as casual outings with friends soon led to a Costco trip, where Paul finally mustered the courage to ask Kayoung out. She said yes. Their first date at Ichi Umi was the beginning of something special. Patience is key when fishing for something big, and just like that, Paul knew he'd found his catch. What had begun as a missed connection years ago evolved into a beautiful relationship, built on timing, serendipity, and the patience to wait for the perfect moment.

It didn’t take long for Paul to know he’d found the one. As their one-year anniversary approached, he planned a special day back at Brushy Creek, where they had one of their first dates—picnicking, fishing, and enjoying each other’s company. During an afternoon stroll, he led Kayoung toward the water, got down on one knee, and asked her to spend forever with him. She said yes! Now, we can’t wait to celebrate our next biggest moment with all of you!
