We first met in a zoom book club during the pandemic. She was in her element being young, wild, and free. I don't think either of us expected anything to develop beyond being acquaintances. I guess that's the beauty of our story: neither of us could have planned it. We ended up having very little communication for a whole year following that first encounter; I must admit I was being a bit avoidant. In the summer of 2021, we started to talk more, and I started realizing I couldn't stop thinking about her. We ended up meeting in person in DC in the fall, and I was instantly captivated by her sense of humor, sarcasm, and compassion for the less fortunate. I couldn't help but spend more time with her. On the 5th of September 2021, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and in true Kaylyn fashion she turned me down. She needed more time to find her own community in DC, set the pace for her relationship with God, and get acclimated to the rhythm of in person lectures. She had her priorities in check, and in that moment I knew she was a woman worth waiting for. She proved me right then and has continued to prove me right everyday since. Now I look forward to waiting on her at the altar when she walks down the aisle.
