Fraser sits in the mountains at 8,500 ft above sea level. It is a small mountain town with limited amenities but there is a local grocery store (Safeway). Winter Park is slightly larger and only about 10 minutes away. Although you will have beautiful mountain views the altitude can be an adjustment. If your schedule allows it, we would advise spending a night in Denver before traveling to Fraser to allow yourself to acclimate to the altitude. Please keep in mind alcohol will likely affect you more at this altitude. We recommend staying hydrated with plenty of water.
This is a backyard wedding. Please dress however you are comfortable! I would advise against heels as we will be on grass. Sunscreen use is highly recommended even on cloudy days! The temperature can swing drastically from day to night at high elevation. The average low in Fraser for July is in the 40's so please plan to bring warm clothes to change into or add layers after the sun sets. Afternoon thunderstorms are also common in the summer. Even if the morning is sunny and clear we recommend bringing a rain jacket if you plan to do outdoor activities as storms blow in quickly.
Please plan on heavy traffic on I70 starting Thursday night into Friday. Also, plan on heavy traffic back into Denver on Sunday. Although it is 4th of July weekend, we would advise against setting off fireworks due to fire risk. If you plan to camp and have a fire please check with Grand County for any fire bans that might be in place.
We are honored you are choosing to spend the time, money and energy coming to our wedding. Your presence is the only gift we request.
Casa Vista is a vacation rental property that sits on 6 acres about 10 minutes outside Fraser, CO. Our wedding ceremony will be held open air with guests seated on benches and we are planning to have the reception in a large tent. There is parking on site as well as restrooms. Weather in Colorado can be unpredictable, please plan to bring rain gear and warm layers.
