Taylor and Kaleb’s love story did not initially begin when they first met in August of 2016 on Mertz Lawn at Swarthmore College. After months of heated debates and a trivial feud, their tension eventually began to dissolve. With each of their walks back to their dorms from the Black Cultural Center and each evening serving as lab partners in Food Engineering, their feud melted and molded into a friendship. Hours spent in conversation outside their dorms and an accidental first date at Bamboo Bistro set them on the path to a relationship that officially began on February 10, 2017. Beneath the bickering and the passionate collision of their personalities, they found a peace that they had both been missing in their lives. Their shared love of food and teasing out the gaps in their knowledge of popular culture staples like A Different World, Grimm, and Supernatural helped them realize that one another’s presence was like breathing fresh air. Taylor’s energetic, anxious, and assertive mind complemented Kaleb’s laid-back, patient, and creative heart. Their love was further vindicated by Kaleb and Taylor’s seamless integration into one another’s families. After graduating college, they began their careers in the Greater Philadelphia Area in a world of uncertainty. In the summer of 2021, they took their first mini vacation together to get away from the city. This was their first visit to Swan Lake Resorts. In June of 2024, they moved into their first home together, merging their day-to-day lives. Then, on November 27th, almost 9 years after they began dating, Kaleb proposed to Taylor at Aburi Gardens in Ghana, during his first visit to his family home in ten years. Seeing how at home Taylor felt in the country where Kaleb grew up confirmed his love for her and removed any doubt that their marriage was part of God’s plan for their lives.
