How It All Began

XU LOVE 11/12/10

Terrence and I went to the same college, Xavier University of Louisiana. At Xavier, we had mutual friends and crossed paths many times during our freshman year. It wasn't until our Sophomore year that we actually sat down and spoke with each other. We eventually went on a midnight run to McDonald's. That night, Terrence and I had a long discussion about school, hobbies, family, goals, and attributes we wanted in our next significant other. Over the next few months, Terrence and I began to hang out more and became close friends. He asked me to start dating at the beginning of October, and I initially declined. I wasn't looking for a new relationship and was focused on my studies. Terrence's perseverance did not stop him and we shared our first kiss at his probate. The following week, we made it official and have not looked back since.

The Proposal

6/2/18

Over the course of our 7 and half year relationship, I always wondered when Terrence would propose. We had many of discussions of how I wanted it to happen and who I would want there. He would take me ring shopping and I'd think he would propose and then months would go by. Everytime I would probe him, he would say "You know I ain't got no money for that!". Many of my friends tried to guess when he would propose and were they wrong. We finally agreed to wait until we were both done with medical school. Terrence totally caught me by surprise when he proposed. He had planned to pop the big question at my graduation party in June. Little did I know, he had already received my dad's blessing and they had kept the secret from my mother, friends, and I. At graduation parties, it is custom for my family, friends, and others to grab the microphone and speak of how proud they are of your academic achievements. My family and friends all shared stories of me and tears were already rolling down my face. Here comes Terrence with the microphone in his hands and all I can think of was how he was going to say how I cried and stressed over exams. He started to talk about the many obstacles we faced together, losing our loved ones, being long distance, and still always being there for one another. He then handed me a bag, which I thought was a ring; however it was a toy ambulance. I was dumbfounded and thinking WTH. Next thing I know Future and Bentley came up to me with signs saying will you marry me. He then dropped to one knee and of course I said yes!
