Local Hero Mitchell Ruybalid

One spring afternoon Kayleigh was driving down the highway (at the posted speed limit) and halted due to a noticeably large car accident. Puppies had escaped one of the cars and she noticed a very handsome man dodging oncoming traffic to bravely save the puppies from any harm. Kayleigh jumped in to offer to hold all the dogs (obviously) and assist where she could. Once the dust settled and the local hero finished saving all the dogs he then walked up to her to ask her out since she very clearly had a heart of gold...or at least that's how Mitchell tells it. The reality is, we met on a dating app (shoutout Hinge #designedtobedeleted) and it took us 2 months to finally go out on our first date. We both had been traveling quite a bit when we first connected, but kept up until our schedules eased. When we finally went on our first date, in true Kayleigh fashion - she changed the entire plan at the last minute. Mitchell had planned a happy hour with a poor parking situation so we regrouped at a local restaurant with a better parking situation and even better patio. Mitchell arrived early and waited outside until her arrival like a true gentleman and we walked on in to start our evening. We didn't get too far because the entire patio was rented out for a private event. So we pivoted and ended up sitting at the bar (now one of our favorite things to do) and got to talking. We knew the basics from our past conversations, but realized we had so much more in common than we thought: Our love for the Chiefs (Mitchell is in denial), a good ballpark hot dog and live music. We both grew up in the Midwest and loved our hometown roots but both ended up moving to AZ to step outside our comfort zones. We each already had a dog, Champ for Mitchell and Holmes for Kayleigh, both of which were named after our favorite NFL players and he wasn't scared away when shown a photo of Kayleigh dressed up as Andy Reid (mustache, belly and headset). Fast forward a few months later and we made things official at the same bar we met and the rest has been history as they say. We've had so many adventures together - an unbelievable amount of concerts, surviving a few chiefs vs broncos games, countless cities and reading every plaque in any museum we've ever been to and we wouldn't have it any other way. The Proposal Mitchell planned the perfect day with a proposal at the location we celebrated our 1st Anniversary together (if you're noticing a pattern he's a super good listener). Kayleigh initially thought she was going to brunch with her old roommates and was in for quite the shock when she realized 1. Mitchell was NOT in Vegas for a boys weekend and 2. She was getting engaged...in all white...in his t-shirt that she borrowed without asking.. and it is probably one of the few times she's been too stunned to speak. We then got to spend a slow morning together capturing the day and what this next step meant for us before going inside to some much needed AC. Thats where we were greeted with the second surprise of the day - our favorite people. There's truly nothing like walking into a room full of the people you love most and have been such a big part of our lives especially when they traveled near and far to be there for our special day. It was truly everything and more we could've ever imagined and a great reminder to how truly loved we are and the love we have in our orbit. We're looking forward to soaking up all the planning and celebrations over the next few months and getting to celebrate our wedding with all of you! We know the love we felt on our engagement will be felt tenfold and we can't wait to see you all there! Cheers! M&K
